All too often, fact is
stranger than fiction. When Dave Perrin set out to become a
veterinarian, he never could have predicted the quirky characters and
strange situations he was to encounter as a rural animal doctor.
His stories delight with topics ranging from feisty neighbors to
midnight calls from eccentric animal owners. We get a glimpse of the
real life stresses of a country vet performing outdoor surgery.
sometimes in minus
forty-degree weather, often torn by human expectations and his ability
to save animal lives against the odds of nature.
When
Dave Perrin finished veterinary school, he had little idea of the
adventures that waited for him in his life ahead. He decided to follow
his heart, and set up his clinic in the picturesque, remote Creston
Valley, among the mountains that he so loved. Here he met a strange,
oddball cast of characters – from Verna the pig farmer to Gordon the
dreamer. Over the next years, they would all find a place in his life -
and his heart.
The
“Adventures of a Country Vet” series follows Dave through his early
career in the Creston valley, the good and the bad, the funny and the
sad, as he cares for the critters and wends his way through life.
Dave
started his practice at the beginning of the iconic, unsettled 1970’s,
against the background of the Vietnam War, Nixon’s resignation, and rock
and roll. Based on the international best selling book series,
“Adventures of a Country Vet".

"All Creatures Great and Small" demonstrated very
effectively that this type of program commands a widespread and loyal audience.
That series has "legs", translates well into other countries, and holds up
very well
over time. We believe that the audience for "Adventures of a Country Vet"
would have a similar appeal. In addition, this program has a bit of a
"western" twist. Dave Perrin has done extensive testing of the marketplace
to determine the audience that buys his books. He has found that the audience is
extremely widespread, with the bulk of the purchases being made by women between
the ages of 18 to 49. However, he has had correspondence from fans as
young as ten and as old as eighty five - in short, the audience appeal for
"Adventures of a Country Vet" is extensive and widespread in demographics. Facebook and Google ad campaigns for the book series have shown similar, very
strong results. |
